Resident Evil 5 – Co-op campaign

The reviewer rates the game 4/5 stars, praising its fun co-op gameplay despite significant bugs and its age. Set in a stereotypical African locale, the game features zombie enemies and a narrative driven by Wesker’s power. The reviewer enjoyed the absurdity and humor throughout, particularly during intense cut scenes and the chaotic shotgun physics.

Rating: 4 out of 5.

As always there will most certainly be spoilers ahead. If you want to play the game for yourself and want to experience it all with fresh eyes, don’t read this post.

I’m keeping it short and sweet for this one. I have to start by saying, I can’t not give this game 4/5 stars. Yes it’s terribly bugged, yes it’s old, but it was so much fun to play. Especially with a friend. I played as Chris Redfield and his gigantic muscles and my partner played as Sheva.

Now the game has some problematic aspects namely it’s set in a generic “African” country where seemingly everyone has turned into crazy zombies under the influence and power of Wesker. Some may say it was ahead of its time, commenting on the injustices of the modern world. I say, it was made in 2009.

As with all Res-E games, you collect a number of different guns. The only ones I ever used were the shotgun and the sniper rifle which were obviously upgraded to the MAX by the end.

Bear in mind that there is no remaster (as of writing this post) so if you decide to join someone else’s campaign, you will lose all of your stuff each time you join as was our experience. Despite that though, I think this was one of the most hilarious games I have ever played and I really enjoyed how ridiculous the whole thing was.

Also remember to grab your popcorn because any major event you think you’ll be faced with will 100% turn out to be a cut scene. I thought we were going to fight some ghost riders on motorcycles… turns out Chris and Sheva and his huge biceps get helicoptered out of there.

I loved playing this game through, whether I would have enjoyed it just as much solo I’m unsure, but co-op was pretty fun the physics of the shotgun SENT me every single time and the final sequence in a volcano was quite cool. Even if it took many attempts.

If you made it this far, thanks for reading. Feel free to like this post or leave a comment if you have thoughts on the game, or just want to say hi.
